Corner Eyelid Surgery

Eyelid Corners

This area of the eyes can enhance and accentuate the look of your eyes and face. Epicanthal folds (nasal corners of the eye) can make one look cross eyed, even when one is not. Lateral canthi (outer corners) that are too high can make you look fierce or unapproachable. Having them too low can make you look sad. Both positions greatly affect the look of the eye. The corners are often done in conjunction with other eyelid procedures. These areas are often overlooked when planning good cosmetic surgery.

Epicanthoplasty

Epicanthoplasty helps reshape the inner corner of the eye and elongates the eye horizontally, making it look bigger and more open. It releases the epicanthal fold which is in the corner of the eye closer to the nose. People bothered by prominent epicanthal folds complain of their eyes being too widely spaced or far apart, or looking “cross eyed”. Epicanthoplasty is also often done in conjunction with double eyelid surgery to enhance the upper eyelid crease’s position and shape.
